Corey Michalek prepares to strap into his Energize A/Fuel Dragster at the Dodge NHRA Nationals.
Michalek receives some last-minute advice from his crew chief, Clay Copeland, before making a pass down the quarter-mile drag strip.
Corey Michalek launches down the racetrack, ultimately recording a 5.32-second pass at 272 mph.
These eight Champion spark plugs ignited the nitromethane fuel in Michalek’s engine, helping to make over 3,000 horsepower.
The clutch pack is serviced in the trailer between passes, while a damaged cylinder head in the background will be sent off for repairs after the event.
Crew members Pat Maloney, Clay Copeland and Chase Copeland (left to right) ride back on the team’s tow vehicle as Corey Michalek drives the Energize dragster back to the pit area.
